ABOUT LUMIRIÈRE
Lumière: In French, it means light.
The "mir" inserted in between comes from my name, Miriam. Light has been a theme throughout my life; whether it be seeking the light, finding the light, or admiring the light all around. A large source of this light, I find, is people. My curiosity for people was ignited in the summer of 2014, in which I moved to the south of France. Finding home in the small town of Avignon, I discovered the worlds of actors and writers, street performers and painters, acrobats and BMX riders, small town bakers and members of the Provençal Lion's Club. I discovered la joie de vivre and have felt this exultation of life ever since. This is what prompted me to write my experiences. Discovering and connecting, pour découvrir et se connaître.
Growing up in Virginia, I moved to Pennsylvania at 17, Avignon at 19, Paris at 20, Geneva at 22, Luxembourg at 24 and New York at 25 (a true Sagittarius wanderer). It was here, in a small coffeeshop on the Upper East Side, that Lumirière was born.
